Live jazz featuring the JPS Band in residency

The Norfolk Arms, is delighted to welcome back & introduce you to our resident band The Jazz Preservation Society Band.

A message from Syd…..

"The JPS band, which has been well known is Sheffield for many years, is a traditional/mainstream band. It's music appeals to a wide audience because, it's style ranges from Dixieland to Mainstream Jazz. This was and still is the most popular jazz form and remains so in Europe, even now. It includes well known standards and golden oldies, echoing the bands of the 60's and 70's, and the music of all time favourites, such as Barber, Littleton, Bilk, Ball, and Welsh etc. JPS has a vast repertoire of tunes, which have been improvised in many different ways by both the resident band and guest artists. We welcome visiting musicians. The band offer an evening of foot tapping, hand clapping music, which appeals to old and young alike. Thrilled to be back at our favourite Sheffield venue, we promise you an evening of reminiscing for some and sheer delight for those discovering Jazz for the first time."

Please come and see Syd and the band play live every Monday from 8.30pm.  Entry costs £3 with raffle prizes to be won.

Your reviews.....

Many thanks for a wonderful evening.  My wife, Gillian, sang with the Climax Jazz Band some time ago when the World was young and, being in Sheffield for the last 45+ years, we have seen a lot of jazz musicians, including the late, lamented Jumping Jack Senior, you spoke about.  For some reason we seem to have seen less and less "Traditional" Jazz over the years, however, having rediscovered the exuberance and thrilling sound we heard last Thursday night, we are of a mind to get back into the swing of things.  Being on your mailing list would make a great start so we would appreciate that very much.  We look forward to being in your audience again in the very near future.  Mike and Gillian Woolley
